Painting Styles and Techniques

Unlike most painting classes and online painting courses, you don’t need to pick specific courses that cover a particular painting style or technique as most are covered in the course.

Here’s what styles are covered…

Alla Prima

Derived from the Italian phrase meaning “on the first”; All Prima is the process of painting directly on the priming of the canvas with no underpainting.

Impressionism

The impressionist style of painting that is characterized chiefly by concentration on the general impression produced by a scene or object and the use of unmixed primary colours and small strokes to simulate actual reflected light.

Chiaroscuro

The process of blending light tones, midtones, and dark tones to show the roundness of form.

Realism

The depiction of subjects as they appear in everyday life, without embellishment or interpretation

Impasto Painting

Impasto painting is application of thick, heavy paint using a brush or palette knife.

Scumbling

The process of painting a semi-transparent colour over another colour.

Wet into Wet

The technique of applying fresh, wet paint into an already wet area of paint.

Conclusion

If you are just starting out and simply want to create a few basic paintings as a part-time hobby, there are other ways that you can learn to paint without paying for lessons.  I joined a local art school when I first started to paint!

However, if you are serious about becoming an artist and want to create your own paintings that look both realistic and professional, you should consider taking painting lessons. The Learn and Master Painting course is about as good as it gets. Gayle Levée has somehow managed to create an oil painting tutorial that teaches you the correct techniques using a teaching style that is both very engaging and relaxing. The standard of instruction is equally comparable to that of a private tutor, which means that the course is extremely good value for money, when compared to the cost of private lessons.

So, would I choose to pay for lessons if I was starting over again?  Well, if I had plenty of time on my hands I’d probably go with the free, find-out-yourself-way.

However, if you want to get going as quickly as possible and avoid all the mistakes and pitfalls that you will inevitably fall into, Learn and Master Painting is a great course to start with.

You won’t become a master artist in a few weeks, however you will learn all you need to know to be able to create beautiful, professional looking oil paintings within a short space of time using this programme.

Still undecided?  A great way to get a feel for a course is to see what people are saying about it!  Take a look at some of the Testimonials from some of the students of Learn and Master Painting!
